On 2nd March CemNet Newsroom reported that Infant Industry Protection (IIP) is not working as it should in Namibia. Ohorongo Cement faces a huge challenge having set up a full integrated cement plant while others are just importing clinker and grinding despite having a license to mine limestone and produce clinker. In Namibia there is an oversupply of 2.5Mt of cement, while local consumption is only between 500,000t and 600,000t of cement.

Staff from Ohorongo Cement have participated in CemNet On-line Training lead  by Dr Michael Clark of Whitehopleman.
